The following information is provided to help you use My7steps App smoothly. Please read it carefully and follow the instructions described in it.

WELCOME TO My7steps App

We are glad you are here and want to work with My7steps App to improve your current situation.

You have already taken a big step towards improving your situation by managing to take action and looking for solutions.
Quickly accessible and systematic, you can use My7steps App on your computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet to independently find a new orientation and understanding of your situation, rediscover your own strengths, take self-determined steps and paths to a new future, and thus regain your self-effective ability to act.

We have compiled the experiences from all our counseling sessions, which we have conducted for decades with people seeking advice at Ipso, in My7steps App, in order to be able to reach you directly and support you effectively.

In a personal crisis or difficult life situation, we want support and help to feel better again. It should happen quickly and preferably immediately. Ideal would be a good friend who accompanies you and whom you can trust unconditionally.

INTENDED PURPOSE – MEDICAL INDICATION

The medical device My7steps App is a web-based intervention to reduce psychological distress. It is a low-threshold service for people experiencing psychosocial difficulties and problems with managing their daily lives.

My7steps App is an intervention to treat or alleviate:

  • ICD-10-GM F32.0 Mild depressive episode,
  • ICD-10-GM F32.1 Moderate depressive episode,
  • ICD-10-GM F33.0 Recurrent depressive disorder, current mild episode,
  • ICD-10-GM F33.1 Recurrent depressive disorder, present moderate episode, or
  • ICD-10-GM F43.2 Adjustment disorder

and its symptoms.

CONTRAINDICATIONS (CONTRAINDICATIONS)

My7steps App must not be used if the user:

  • has planned or attempted suicide in the past four weeks,
  • has a psychotic disorder (ICD-10 F20, F22, F23, F24), or
  • has been diagnosed with major depression (ICD-10 F32.2).

In this case, a psychological psychotherapist or an appropriate specialist should be consulted immediately.

SIDE EFFECTS  

In isolated cases, there may be little or no reduction in the user’s psychological discomfort. This may cause a feeling of disappointment.

WHAT IS My7steps App?

The medical device My7steps App is a web-based intervention to reduce psychological distress. It is a low-threshold offer for people who have psychosocial difficulties and problems coping with their everyday life. 

In My7steps App, psychotherapeutic principles are implemented in a digitalized way. They are implemented in such a way that you alone and at your own pace work on your thought paths and feelings in such a way that you can effectively change your situation positively when using My7steps App. As individually as digitally possible, you are guided step by step through My7steps App.

CONTENT OF My7steps App

My7steps App consists of seven steps. Within My7steps App you will receive information. You are asked to classify or write down situations, and you are given tasks and exercises to work on or presented with explanations in the form of films and audio recordings. My7steps App reacts interactively to your individual answers and varies further content accordingly.

My7steps App guides you through the following seven steps:

Step 1: Symptoms Understanding in more detail the things that stress me out in everyday life.

Step 2: Psychosocial stressors Recognizing and understanding the stressful background for my current state of being

Step 3: Inner situation Understanding my own inner situation and working out my dominant basic feeling

Step 4: Main complaint What most limits my ability to cope with everyday life

Step 5: Solutions Seeing and formulating a workable solution that suits me best

Step 6: Steps to the solution Thinking, trying, trying, and gradually achieving successes

Step 7: Consolidation Consider the entire process, note the points that are important to me, look to the future with newly gained insights, and be strengthened for future requirements.

The steps build on each other and are worked on one after the other. If one way does not fit, it is possible to go back one or more steps within My7steps App at selected points and try out another way.

WHO IS My7steps App SUITABLE FOR?

My7steps App is suitable for all ages 18+ and for all genders equally.

My7steps App requires a good knowledge of German.

You must be able to use the user interface of an internet browser running My7steps App (see system requirements) and read the texts there.

You do not need any training to use My7steps App. Only basic knowledge of using a PC and smartphone is required.

DURATION OF APPLICATION

Recommended duration of application is up to 3 months to allow sufficient time for integration of personal behavioral changes into one’s life.

During an active therapeutic session, which lasts up to one hour for one step of the application, you need uninterrupted access to the Internet.

Between individual steps and also sub-steps it is good and useful to take breaks and spend time. The work you do by yourself with the help of My7steps App is exhausting and needs time; time for rethinking, trying out, rethinking, reorienting, processing, or to gain new strength.

You can use My7steps App at any time of the day or night via the Internet.

PRECAUTIONS ON THE PART OF THE USER

In order to use My7steps App, the device must be permanently connected to the Internet during active use and have an uninterrupted power supply. We recommend that you use My7steps App in a quiet environment, room or nature, undisturbed and unobserved by third parties.

My7steps App is designed to provide the highest level of protection for the user’s data. You can also contribute to the security of using My7steps App. Therefore, during an active session, please do not make a copy of what you type or take a screenshot of what you type and save it to your device.

While using My7steps App, you will have the opportunity to fill in free text fields. Please use this option to document your thoughts and reflections. However, please do not use this opportunity to disclose sensitive personal information. The intervention is designed to allow users to go through the application while going about their normal daily lives and work.

USAGE REQUIREMENT

You will need a personal email address, cell phone number, internet-enabled device (e.g., computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet), and payment information (e.g., health insurance reimbursement information, credit card) to use.

My7steps App is a digital intervention in the form of software. The software does not need to be installed on your device with which you want to use My7steps App. You access and use My7steps App by entering and accessing the following web address in your browser’s address bar:

Use requires registration. Registration requires the provision of a working email address and cell phone number.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

My7steps App can be used on any internet-enabled device (laptop, PC, tablet, smartphone, etc.) that has a web browser with at least the version number as follows:

  • Google Chrome 85
  • Mozilla Firefox 78
  • Apple Safari 13.1
  • Microsoft Edge 85

In order to use My7steps App, the device must be connected to the Internet during active use.

There are no further minimum technical requirements for your system to use My7steps App.

NOTE FOR CRISIS SITUATIONS

In justified individual cases, My7steps App may ask you to immediately seek further, appropriate help for your own protection. This is particularly the case if you express concrete suicidal intentions or if you experience serious mental deterioration that makes further help urgently necessary. In this case, we strongly advise you to seek further, direct and personal help for yourself locally. Help can be provided by a doctor, a psychological psychotherapist or an appropriate specialist. In case of acute emergencies, contact them immediately or dial the national emergency numbers of the fire department or police.

Applicable emergency numbers for Germany are for example (not exhaustive):

  • Pastoral care or suicidal thoughts: 0800 1110111 and 0800 1110222
